Population screening from 25 to 65. Up to 34: cytology every 3 years. From 35: high-risk HPV testing as the primary test — negative, review in 5 years; positive, triage with cytology.
This page describes the cervical cancer screening programme of Andalusia (Spain) and the Spanish regulations governing it. Protocols in other countries differ: please consult the guidelines of your own health system.
Select the cytology and HPV results: the calculator applies the PDPCCU algorithm and returns the recommendation, with the text to explain it to the patient.
Important: This calculator is intended for women included in the Cervical Cancer Early Detection Programme (PDPCCU).
Immunocompromised patients, whose screening and follow-up are carried out in Gynaecology clinics according to a specific protocol, and patients with a history of conisation, whose follow-up is likewise carried out according to the established specific protocol, are excluded from the programme.

The move to organised population screening rests on multicentre studies and on a network of professionals coordinating research across Andalusia.
The change of model — from opportunistic cytology to population screening with primary hr-HPV — rests on multicentre research evaluating its real implementation in Andalusian public healthcare, not only in clinical trials.
